Stop
the top 3 causes of dataroom security leaks with new location restrictions.
May 19th 2008.
Traditionally online dataroom reviewers use a username and password to
access documentation. This poses 3 significant risks:
1) Can you trust all your bidders not to give access details to
competitors?
2) Keylogging (when hackers log every key stroke from a compromised
computer to obtain passwords and illegal access). Whilst security at
the major firms make keylogging unlikely, the same cannot be said for
all the smaller firms who may also have access to your dataroom.
3) Staff Turnover - when staff leave, is dataroom access revoked
immediately? What about staff on the bid side?
How can we counter these threats?
At PROJECTFUSION we've taken a simple approach, when you set up a user,
just select 'Automatic Location Restriction', and that's it. When they
login, that will be the only location they will be able to access your
dataroom from.
But what if they want to logon from home? Add that location to their
'allowed location' list - or play hard ball, and say each user is only
allowed to logon from one place. With PROJECTFUSION it's maximium
security, minimum effort.
